Formerly the Director of Sports Service at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of the Sports and Exercise Medicine Service at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Dr Poh is currently the Medical Director of Advanced Orthopaedic and Sports Centre.
Upon the completion of his Master of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) postgraduate degree from the National University of Singapore, and obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery, from Edinburgh, the United Kingdom, Dr Poh received the prestigious Health Manpower Development Plan training award to pursue specialty fellowship training in Hip Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine in Germany. Dr Poh became the first fully fellowship-trained surgeon in hip preservation surgery in Singapore, pioneering new techniques in hip arthroscopy and osteotomy, and he went on to establish the Singhealth Joint Hip Preservation Service to optimise the care of hip patients across all Singhealth hospitals.
Besides hip preservation surgery, Dr Poh Seng Yew, a knee specialist in Singapore, is also well-versed in complex knee and shoulder arthroscopy, osteotomy, multi-ligamentous ligament reconstruction, meniscal reconstruction, cartilage resurfacing, hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty, as well as trauma surgery.
